Contents
The purpose of psycholinguistics is to describe the processes that take place in our brains when we produce and perceive language. The course will discuss the following questions: How do we perceive and recognize speech? How do we produce and perceive words, phrases and sentences? How is linguistic competence represented and organized in the human mind? How can data from aphasia shed light on these questions? The aim of the course is to give students an overview of the main questions, theoretical models and experimental methods of psycholinguistics in a way that will enable them to understand and evaluate the current scientific debate in the field. The aim is also to improve the students'' understanding of the relationship between language data and theories in psycholinguistics.
