Objectives
The ARCTOS network attempts to give more thrust to marine ecological research, to enhance international cooperation and integration, and to proliferate the visibility of Norway''s contribution to research in the Arctic. ARCTOS attempts to describe how climate change influences the ecosystem from molecular- to a community level and how this influences biodiversity and biological global flux in the Arctic. ARCTOS has its node in Tromsø and Longyearbyen with the Norwegian College of Fishery Science (NCFS), University of Tromsø (UoT), Norwegian Polar Institute (NPI), Akvaplan-niva (APN) and The University Centre in Svalbard (UNIS) as core members.

The ARCTOS network makes an effort to actively increase the interest in the effect of climate change on Arctic ecosystems among students. With the support of leading international specialists, ARCTOS will arrange one new workshop every year on a "hot" research topic, to keep students up-to-date on Arctic marine ecosystem research
Contents
Hot topics in Arctic marine system ecology.
Form of teaching
20-25 lectures will be given in each workshop by ARCTOS scientists and invited specialists, in addition to discussions and seminars. A workshop lasts for about one week, and the language is English. The students organize the seminars under supervision by the lecturers. At the end of each workshop the students present results from the seminars.
