Objectives
The course is a selective historical introduction to American narratives (mainly the novel and short story genres), and provides insight into the use of central methods and terms in narrative analysis.
Contents
This selective study of American narrative (from romantic and realist to modernist and postmodernist fiction) combines a historical, sociocultural perspective with a systematic introduction to the main features of narrative and the basic analytical methods and tools for its study. The course focuses mainly but not necessarily exclusively on novels and short stories.

Since both the syllabus and teaching will be in English, a good command of English is required.

Performance in the course will be assessed with the grades A-F.
