LAT-1110: Latin syntax and introduction to original texts Work Load

In this course, the students will gain a deeper understanding of the structure of Latin, and acquire skills in reading texts in Latin in their original version. | Contents
Grammar, exercises in translation into Latin. Discussions of short original texts in Latin from different genres.
Language of instruction and exam language(s): Norwegian
Recommended previous qualifications/ courses: A good command of English is an advantage. Reading skills in Swedish are required. | Recommended previous qualifications
LAT-1010 Introductory Course | Form of teaching
Teaching consists of 52 hours distributed over 4 sections of 3 weeks each, with a 2-week period with no teaching between the sections. Teaching consists of lectures/seminars. Students are expected to be prepared at the meetings, to participate actively in class, and to use the two-week periods with no teaching for individual study. | Coursework requirements
70% of the exercises must be handed in before exam
| Exam and assessment
Coursework requirements:
In order to sit the exam, students must hand in exercises at every lecture and take an active part in the course.
Students must have handed in at least 70% of course work to
be able to sit the exam.
Assessment method: Exams are held at the end of the semester (6 hrs.)
Performance on the course will be assessed with the grades (A-F).
