Objectives
The master'' thesis'' objective is to provide the student with an experience in disposing and analyzing original material which the student has collected. This material is to be presented in a structured, written form.

Contents
The master''s thesis is to be an orderly account of the thematical, theoretical, analytical and methodical approach which the work is based upon. Through working with the thesis the student will get training in how to present - professionally and anthropologically- the written material/theme. This will, in addition, give a basic training useful for other research projects in the future, such as doctoral projects.

Form of teaching
There will be writing seminars and personal supervision. The writing seminar is offered on a weekly basis, or every other week, depending on the number of students. This seminar is largely based on individual contributions from the students. Through presentations of drafts, ideas, dispositions, etc., connected to the thesis, the students can comment on each others¿ work. There will, in addition, be given personal supervision.

Exam and assessment
The master''s thesis must be 50 pages in length (+/- 10 per cent).

The master''s thesis (SOA-3901) and the film project (SVF-3905) are given a combined evaluation. This evaluation can be adjusted after the student has given a master''s degree dissertation on a given subject. This subject will be made known to the student on a two weeks'' notice. The final assessment will be given after an oral exam connected to the master''s thesis, film and a self-selected list of readings.
