ENG-1010: Introduction to English Language I Work Load

Students will be given an overall view of common aspects of English grammar and learn how to work independently with linguistics-related themes. | Contents
The course will provide an introduction to English grammar with the emphasis on syntax. In addition, students must work on a project assignment with a given linguistics theme (can vary from one semester to another).
Students must be proficient in both written and spoken English. | Recommended previous qualifications
EXF-0720 Examen facultatum for the Humanities | Form of teaching
Lectures, exercises, project assignments. Teaching period approx. 13 weeks plus private study/project work of approx. 7 weeks. A total of 52 teaching hours.

Coursework requirements:
Completion of 6 homework assignments and of all exercises.
Assessment method:
A short paper, roughly 1200 words (30%), and a longer paper, roughly 4000 words (70%).
Grading:
