HIS-1000: The Making of history - Illustrated through the relationship between

The course is an introduction to the bachelor study in History. It is included in the subject group history for teachers, 30 credits, and can be included in the one-year programme in history for teacher training students, 60 credits.
| Contents
History as subject has been referred to as ¿a science of change¿; a study of how people interact and how societies change. The study of our past provides us with a long-term perspective needed to understand the swift changes in our own time, furthermore, how slow and long-term changes have shaped the diversity of societies which surround us today. History holds the experiences of previous generations, experiences which contribute to our understanding of human diversity. During this course, the students will be introduced to the important questions behind history ¿ ¿what, how and why?¿ The students will use history themselves by working with historical sources throughout the course.

Approx. 30 hours of lectures/seminars/tutorials
| Exam and assessment
Portfolio-evaluation: 2 assignments of about 4 pages each will be delivered during the course. These will be given a combined evaluation, and graded from A-E, F for fail. Failing students will be given the opportunity of a re-sit examination. The students will be offered a collective tutorial when the assignments are handed out. The students will also be offered a feed-back concerning the first assignment before the second assignment is handed out.
