The course provides a broad overview of geographical variation in Sami and its historical background. | Contents
A broad overview of geographical variation in Sami from a comparative and historical perspective is provided. Specific topics such as idiosyncrasies in different Sami languages will also be addressed. This includes e.g. the East Sami languages. Old written texts will also be discussed as sources in language history.
The course starts at a level equivalent to SAM-1011 North Sami dialectology, SAM-2010 Lule- and South Sami language in a comparative perspective and SAM-2011 Sami language history. | Recommended previous qualifications

Teaching in the course will be in the form of lectures.
