NOR-3119: Northern Norwegian Literature after 1900 Work Load

The object of the course is to enhance students'' awareness of the problems of theory and method which can arise in connection with regional language
research, and to improve knowledge of Northern Norwegian literature as a distinctive part of Norway''s national literature. | Contents
In Northern Norwegian literary history, there are many examples of
the tension between the periphery and the centre which seems to be
a general feature of European culture as far back as Antiquity. In
this course, the main emphasis will be on central Northern
Norwegian works from the period after 1900, and we will try to read
these texts into a regional Northern Norwegian as well as a national
Norwegian context of literary history.
The textual analysis will be more thorough and the use of relevant
theory will be more comprehensive than in the corresponding course
at the 2000-level.
Recommended previous qualifications/ courses: A bachelor''s degree
in Nordic or equivalent. | Form of teaching
Teaching is organised in lectures and seminars with prepared
student presentations. Teaching is distributed over 13 weeks with an
average of two teaching hours per week. There will be weeks with
no teaching for individual study during the semester. | Coursework requirements

| Exam and assessment
Coursework Requirements: In order to sit the examination, the
students must give one prepared presentation of no less than 15
minutes. The presentation must be approved by the teacher.
Assessment method: A seven days home exam on a given topic.
The paper should be of approximately 10-15 pages.
Exam language: Norwegian.
