The purpose of the course is to familiarise the student that attended AT-307 with ice in the field (how to sample ice and characterise the physical and mechanical properties of ice, etc.). | Innhold
The nature and magnitude of the ice load is governed by many factors; some related to the ice and others to the structure. The load is governed either by the failure mode, deformation, clearing of ice in front of the structure, ride-up or by the environmental driving forces acting on the ice. However, the physical and mechanical properties play a major role. The student will learn the most common techniques of how to characterise ice both with respect to physical and mechanical properties.
