BIO-8101: Functional genomics Work Load

Practical examples will be taken from plant genomics, but the course is suitable for biologists in all fields. Topics of genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics and metabolomics will be covered. The course will concentrate on expressed sequence tag (EST) libraries, data mining, microarrays and bioinformatics. Pensum for this course will be a collection of selected primary literature which would be available on the web. Students will work web-based for the course. Reading and computer based tasks are performed during this period by the student. Each student will prepare a seminar talk on one of the subjects. Students taking the course will meet at the University of Tromsø for one week, where lectures, student seminars and computer practise will finalise the course. | Form of teaching
