| Contents
This course deals with the Earths upper atmosphere and magnetosphere and how these regions are influenced by the Sun. It is based on a good knowledge of physics in general with particular weight on electromagnetism, and plasma physics corresponding to FYS-2009 Introduction to Plasma Physics. Topics included are: the neutral atmosphere, the magnetic field of the Earth, the ionosphere, the magnetosphere, the Sun, solar radiation and the solar wind. | Recommended previous qualifications

| Exam and assessment
An oral examination (counting 100%).
Grading scale: A-F.
Re-sit examination: Early in tutor free term, with reserve of postponed examination oral examination which counts 100%.
Postponed examination: According to the current regulation of exams § 21.
New examination: According to the current regulation exams § 25, last paragraph.
