Contents
This in-depth study of Anglophone modernism with an expanded syllabus combines a historical and cultural perspective with the close analysis (formal as well as thematic) of selected texts. Particular emphasis will be given to the definition of literary modernism and its typical features, but the course also pays close attention to its diversity and multiformity of expression across the range of individual texts.

Students who have already (at the bachelor´s level) taken ENG-2114 with a pensum that extensively overlaps with the present pensum of ENG-3114 are barred from taking the latter course.
Form of teaching
13 weeks of teaching and 6 weeks of academic supervision. Teaching consists of lectures, seminars, discussions led by students, student presentations, and tuition in paper writing.
Coursework requirements

Oral presentation and leading a discussion
Exam and assessment
Coursework Requirements: Each student is required to give a short oral presentation or a discussion of a topic (10-15 minutes). Each student must also lead the discussion during one 45-minute seminar session (or two students may lead the discussion together for a double session). These activities should be relatively informal, however the presentation and the discussion session must be approved by the teacher before the student can submit the end-of-term paper.

Assessment method: Mid-term paper (up to 7 pages, double line spacing, to be submitted approximately halfway through the semester) and an end-of-term paper (up to 12 pages, double line spacing, to be submitted at the end of the semester). The mid-term paper counts for 1/3 and the end-of-term paper for 2/3 of the final grade.
