FRA-1011: French language I: Grammar with practical french Work Load

| Objectives
A practical command of basic language structures in French, and the corresponding grammatical terminology. Training of oral and written skills. | Contents
Grammar (2/3 of the course):
The focus of the teaching is on morphology and syntax. Special emphasis will be on exercises as a tool to understanding and acquiring language structures.
Practical French (1/3 of the course):
Through different activities such as summary writing, dictation, oral presentation, and conversation, practical command of the language is trained.
This course requires university admission certification or sufficient prior learning and work experience.
French B- or C-language from upper secondary school, or equivalent is recommended. | Form of teaching

| Exam and assessment
Coursework requirements:
Grammar: A 3-hour written test which must be approved before students can take the exam.
Practical French: 1-page résumé and an oral presentation (approx. 15 min.) on a given subject. Coursework requirements must be approved before students can take the exam.
Exam:
Grammar: A two-week home exam on a given subject. The home exam may be written in Norwegian or French.
Practical French: An oral test (approx. 25 min.) on a given subject. The exam language is French.
