The aim is that students should acquire a basic understanding of the principles of document representation, a feeling for different materials, media properties and potential, as well as the means to achieve the representation of a useable quality product within a limited time-frame.

Contents
Compulsory for students on the document development study course. May not be taken as an individual subject.

DOK-2022 may be taken as a specialist subject in the document development course study. It is a requirement that students should have taken the preliminary year''s course in Documentary Science (DOK-1010, -1011, -1012, -1016), together with DOK-2020 and DOK-2021.

This subject is the framework for a document workshop, where document prototypes are produced from sketches of documents developed in DOK-2021, Document Design. This work may be undertaken, in principle, with all kinds of media and materials, from stone and fire to digital pictures and sound. The documents may be produced with the idea of their being used in different social situations, business life, private life, cultural life, etc.
Form of teaching
This subject is offered in the Spring semester.

First and foremost, the teaching covers project work in the laboratory, with relevant workshops and lectures over a total maximum period of 60 hours. The work will be co-ordinated with the teaching of DOK-2023. the work is evenly spread over the 21 weeks of the Spring semester.
Exam and assessment
Active participation is required in workships over the course of the semester.

Students will develop a project, which consists of a document prototype. This prototype will, after further discussion, be made available in a useable fashion by the start of week 16 in the Spring semester at the latest. A written report 5-10 pages long (600 words per page) must be submitted at the same time. The prototype will be presented at a seminar in week 21. This seminar is co-ordinated with the seminar for DOK-2023. The prototype and report will be presented and saved onto the programme''s Internet site. The project must also be submitted in paper form. The prototype and the report will be assessed together.

Performance in the course will be assessed with the grades A-F.

Exam language(s): Scandinavian languages and English.
