Contents
Social psychology is about individuals'' relations to others, and focuses on how social and cultural factors form and influence the individual. The teaching will partly address a series of basic topics, e.g., attitudes and attitude-behavior relations, automatic thinking processes, social cognition, and the self. Students write a 5-page essay about a topic in one of these areas (obligatory assignment). The community psychology part focuses on social psychology as an applied discipline. We particularly focus on intervention planning aimed at changing behavior and solve health, social, or other problems that may arise in neighborhoods, communities, organizations, or in society in general. The students will work on intervention planning in groups (max 3 students per group) focusing on a particular case, and present their work in class (obligatory assignment). The discussions will focus on the quality and feasibility of the intervention plans, and the psychologists'' role in the interventions.
Form of teaching
The course thus consists of three activities: lectures, preparing and presenting an intervention plan, and an individual essay.
