| Objectives
The course aims to develop the students´ knowledge about, and attitudes regarding, various topics within the field of special education. In addition, the objective is to provide insight into the special education area of work.
| Contents
We aim to provide the students with an in-depth study of the following themes:General learning disabilities (psychical disabilities)Specific learning disabilities (difficulties communicating; language, reading, writing, and difficulties solving math problems)Psychical conditioned learning disabilities (social and emotional difficulties)Censorial conditioned learning disabilities (sight and hearing difficulties)Multifunctional disabilities (communication as a phenomenon of relations)
The course will use the themes above to provide insight into young peoples´ learning disabilities. There will be given an introduction into the nature, extent of the disabilities, and questions regarding causes, as well as consequences and difficulties combining these. Concepts relating to learning disabilities will be discussed.
| Form of teaching
The teaching methods are mainly lectures, group discussions, and individual tasks of reflection.
| Coursework requirements
One five page essay for submission.
| Exam and assessment
Work requirements: One five page essay. The work requirement has to be approved in order to be eligible for the final examination.
