International Seminar: FILM: “The Debt of the Dictators”

Is it fair that innocent people should pay the debt of their dictators?
Journalist Erling Borgen has travelled to South Africa, Argentina and the Philippines in order to describe how one-fifth of all developing countries debt are loans which was given to support brutal dictators and their regimes in the past.
The film shows the sad fact that even when the corrupt dictators and generals committed the most horrifying human rights violations in their highly undemocratic regimes, The International Monetary Fund (IMF), The World Bank and other international banks were lining up to offer billion-dollar loans.
