The PhD-course and symposium has as its points of departure the Research Council of Norway-financed project: “Sustainable Coastal Culture? A Gender Perspective on Area and Resource Use”, a workshop held at the University of Tromsø in 2004 and collaboration with feminist researchers in several countries. These projects have revealed the need for a stronger focus on women’s and men’s actions and positions in globalised coastal areas, in relevant organisations and in resource management. The symposium will be held in English and will involve experts on the subject from Canada, France, Norway, Spain, and the U.S.
Target group
The PhD-course will be a symposium or a meeting-place for established researchers as well as for students who are working on or have an interest in the connection between gender, nature, and culture. The main target group is PhD-students and researchers from within Norway and overseas.
PhD-students and others are welcome to register for paper delivery. PhD-students may receive 5 or 10 ECTS credits. See homepages for more information.
