Does peace education make a difference in the context of an intractable conflict?
Is technology the key to higher education? Does peace education actually make any difference? These are questions you can seek answers to at this year’s Nordlys lectures sponsored by the University of Tromsø Psychology Department.
Professor Salomon’s has a long history of doing work on media and learning, mindfulness and mindlessness, the design of intelligent computer tools and the study of technology-afforded learning environments. His book Interaction of Media, Cognition and Learning (1979/1994), is a citation classic. His most recent work is in the area of peace education.
Salomon is currently co-director of the Center for Research on Peace Education (CERPE). CERPE, is designed to develop the scholarly field of peace education by bringing together scholars from different disciplines – education, psychology, sociology, political science, economics and history – and from different parts of the world. The main foci of the center’s work are program evaluation, research, theory construction and international collaboration.
The lecture is open to the public.
