She is beautiful and charming, cute and sexy, passive and powerless. He is strong, handsome, active and powerful. Commercial films are seemingly full of gender stereotypes. How are gendered relations represented in contemporary films? What narrative and visual techniques do film directors use and how do these affect the viewer?

This semester KVINNFORSK will screen four films representing both Hollywood and Bollywood. Each will be introduced and commented on by film enthusiasts; and we will have time for discussion after each screening.
