Melanie - une debrouillarde

by Félicité Minda Vella, Josiane Nsiemang, Jessica Ngo Minyem

bildeside6.gif

The film pictures Melanie. She is a southerner working as a market woman in Ngaoundéré, selling vegetables, herbs and remedies which stems from her home regions in the southern part of Cameroon.
Melanie started the market activities when her husband lost his employment at the railway. They discussed to return back to their village. The couple had already 6 children then and decided to invest all their money in Melanie’s market business. Today her business runs very well.

The film pictures her relations to other market women, to her family and we also see Melanie’s negotiations with the wholesalers and middlemen in the business.
The film is pearl of beauty and shows a strong woman’s activities at the colourful and noisy ‘Little Market’ down town in Ngaoundéré.
