or equivalent
Course description:
The course addresses analysis and design of communication networks
by means of queue and stochastic theory. Topics are: Queuing and
stochastic
theory. Model and problem formulations for local area networks, access
and transport networks, networks with stationary and mobile terminals.

dimensioning of links and nodes, optimization. Strategies for traffic
handling,
routing, and control.
Course material: Lecture notes, selected
book chapters
and
papers.
Teaching methods: Lectures, colloquiums, and
excercises
Learning goals
:
To acquire knowledge about the use of analytical models and methods
at an advanced level to describe, study, and understand traffic and
traffic
handling in communications networks.
