Riksbibliotektjenesten har forhandlet fram en fellesavtale med OCLC (Online Computer Library Center) om tilgang til FirstSearch. For en årlig avgift gir dette tilsatte og studenter ved HBO tilgang til en del store bibliografiske databaser. Noen av dem inneholder referanser til bøker (WorldCat), men det som kanskje de fleste vil sette størst pris på, er muligheten til å søke etter tidsskriftartikler (Article1st), eller få innholdsoversikter fra tidsskrift (Contents1st). Dessuten finner du pedagogikkbasen ERIC her.

Ønsker du å bestille noe av den litteraturen du finner i FirstSearch, følger du vanlige bibliotekrutiner; bruk BIBSYS for å se om vi har boka eller tidsskriftet, og gå eventuelt på biblioteket og lån den/det.

Tilsatte ved HBO kan bestille lån/kopier online av bøker som er utlånt eller bøker/artikler som må bestilles fra et annet bibliotek. Er ikke boka utlånt, eller finnes tidsskriftet i HBO-biblioteket, må de tilsatte komme i biblioteket og finne fram litteraturen selv.

De samme regler gjelder for studenter, men her krever vi at vedkommende på forhånd har oppgitt epost-adressen sin til bibliotekets låntakerregister, slik at biblioteket kan gi tilbakemeldinger på en enkel måte.

FirstSearch-basene kan brukes i en normal studie- eller arbeidssituasjon for dem som er tilknyttet høgskolen. Ethvert forsøk på å utnytte basene i kommersiell hensikt er strengt forbudt.

The National Office for Research Documentation, Academic and Professional Libraries, Norway (Riksbibliotektjenesten) has negotiated a Common Agreement with OCLC (Online Computer Library Center) concerning access to FirstSearch. For a yearly fee this gives HBO staff and students access to a number of large bibliographic databases. Some of them contain references to books (WorldCat), but what probably will be most highly appreciated is the possibility to search for journal articles (Article1st), or get contents lists from single issues (Contents1st). You will also find the Educational database ERIC here.

If you wish to order some of the literature you become aware of through FirstSearch, just follow ordinary library routines; use BIBSYS to see if we have the book or journal, in which case you go to the library and borrow it.

Staff members may order books/articles online if the books are on loan or the book/article must be ordered from another library. Literature immediately available in the library shelves must be fetched by the requesting person herself.

The same rules apply to students, but they may not order online until they have had their email-address registered at the library.

The FirstSearch-databases may be used in a normal study or work situation by persons affiliated to HBO. Any attempt to exploit the bases commercially, is strongly prohibited.
