My main research field is plant ecology in polar, alpine and subalpine regions, as well as recovery after forest fires, and plant phenology of native and cultivated plants.

I am currently chairman of the board and active in the HIBECO research project (Human Interactions with the Mountain Birch Forest Ecosystem: Implications for Sustainable Development) financed by EU.
