Tuesday August 21st we will upgrade the Bioportal when the computing resources are down (8 am - 4 pm CET). This is done to minimize the inconvenience to the Bioportal users. Users of the old bioportal, will have the same username on the new bioportal. The old bioportal will be available for a limited time, but will not accept new jobs. Old files and jobs will be available through this portal.

This upgraded version of the bioportal, has several new features:

- More applications

Can you ever get enough. We have added a lot of new applications, and made it easier to add new applications. This will increase throughput on our end, if you have an application you want us to put out.

- Feide-login for Norwegian University users

Norwegian University/Hoeyskole users may log in using their University/Hoeyskole accounts.

- New and improved design for easy navigating

Of course we had to do this. Hope you like it.

- Access to your own computing resources from the Bioportal (for selected users)

If you have your own computing resources on Titan, you can have access to them through the Bioportal. Access can be limited to the users you want to give access. Other computing resources may also use our framework, through some kind of arrangement with us.

The Bioportal computing resources will be down on August 21st for system upgrades. The resources is scheduled to be down from 8 am - 4 pm central european time. As a result running jobs will be terminated. Queued jobs will be retained, and started once the resources are back up again. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. Due to problems with the head node, jobs will not be submitted to the resource until this is fixed. We are curre3ntly working on the problem. The bioportal has exchanged their old nodes on the titan machine with new nodes. New jobs will be submuitted to these new nodes. obs on the old nodes will finish, but will thwn be removed. Jobs on old nodes will shown as resource oldtitan. Please report any problems with the new nodes to hpc-drift@usit.uio.no.

The BLAST database server will be down for maintenance on Friday 4th of May. Hopefully the downtime will be short. The bioportal will be available, and it will still be possible to submit BLAST jobs.

A bug in the installation og preAssemble has been discovered, which prevented preAssemble jobs of some users to start. This has now been discovered and corrected. The calculations using Modeltest and MrModeltest have been simplified using a scipt by J.A.A. Nylander, and there is no need for calculating anything on your home computer anymore. Just upload a file in NEXUS format, and run the application. An easy summary of the calculation, along with model recommendations, can be found in the .mfit.log file and details are found in the .mfit.out file. Please consult the aspplications page for more information about doing a calculation, and don\'t hesitate to report any problems to hpc-drift@usit.uio.no

We have been forced to turn of emails from the bioportal for now, due to tecnical difficulties out of our control. This means that until we figure out a way around this, you will not recieve email when your jobs start or finish.
