Institutions
under the Ministry of Labour and Social Inclusion
There
are several institutions subordinate to the ministry. The following is a list
of all the institutions under the Ministry of Labour and Social Inclusion. There
are also links to the different web sites.
The Labour and
Welfare Service
From 1. July 2006, the Labour and Welfare Service took over the
responsibilities that previously belonged to Aetat Directorate of Labour, the
National Insurance Service and NAV Interim.
The new Labour and Welfare Service will contribute in the creation of an
inclusive society and working life, and a well functioning labour market. The
Service shall further meet the needs of vulnerable groups and fight poverty, by
efforts such as stimulating employment and participation. The Service is also
responsible for securing income during unemployment, pregnancy and birth,
single parent care, sickness and injury, disability, old age and decease.
Directorate of Labour and Welfare
The new Directorate of Labour and Welfare was
established at the same time as the Service, 1. July 2006.

Directorate of
Health and Social Affairs
The Directorate for Health and Social Affairs serves as an
administrative agency and competence centre, helping to implement and pursue
national policy in the health and social services sector, providing advice to central authorities,
municipalities, health enterprises, volunteer organisations and the general public.
The Directorate helps facilitating the
development of quality and the ranking of priorities in health and social
services.
