Five tenders for the Norwegian Public Safety System

By Arild Vollan

The Norwegian Ministry of Justice and the Police received all the tenders for Norway's new Public Safety Network and Control Rooms in good time before the deadline at 13.00 hrs. on October 17th 2005.  All the tenderers arrived in person for the hand-over at the new premises of the Norwegian Public Safety Project in Nydalen, Oslo.

- All three pre-qualified candidates for the Network have handed in tenders for both the Public Safety Network and the Control Rooms. In addition, two tenderers have filed independent tenders for the Control Rooms, says Mr. Lyngstøl.

Tenderers and important partners:

Public Safety Network and Control Rooms:

  • EADS Defence and Security Systems SA with:
     Steria  AS and NETEL AS
  • Siemens AS with:
Motorola, BaneTele, Kongsberg DC, Zenitel and Frequentis
  • EADS Secure Networks OY with:
Telenor, Eltel Networks, Thales and TConnect

Control Rooms:

  • Ericsson AS with:
    ID Connect
  • Frequentis GmbH

Mr. Tor Helge Lyngstøl, Head of Project, confirms that, after having acquired Nokia's PMR business (Private Mobile Radio), EADS appears to have a central position in two of the tenders.  -  We are, however, talking about two independent and competing companies within the EADS Corporation, says Mr. Lyngstøl.

- Now that we have received the tenders, we are entering another phase - one in which the most burdensome part of the work is again our responsibility, says Mr. Tor Helge Lyngstøl, Head of Project.  In the course of the next two months all the tenders will be subject to detailed review by the evaluation team. The work now being done aims at having negotiations start in January 2006.
