Opening of the
Gas Technology Center NTNU - SINTEF
22 April 2003
People
are entering the lab, waiting for the opening
The
oil and energy minister Einar Steensnæs is welcomed by Ingvald Strømmen
Some
refreshments before the ceremony
Bjarne
Foss is welcomes the crowd
Minister
Steensnæs receives the torch that he will use to ignite the gas flame. The
torch was developed in this lab, and used in the opening ceremony of the 1994
Winter Olympic Games at Lillehammer. From that time, some of us remember the ski jumper with this torch coming down the slope.
A
flame is ignited as a symbol of the opening of the Gas
Technology Center
The
propane flame goes several meters high for some seconds, before calming down.
The
Strindens Promenade Orchestra entertains before and during the opening ceremony.
Martin
Bekkeheien expresses on behalf of Statoil the best of luck for the Center
An
agreement between Statoil, NTNU and SINTEF is signed
The
president of NTNU, Eivind Hiis Hauge, makes a speech and expresses his joy over
making this happen

Steffen
Møller-Holst, SINTEF, is with glimt in his eyes explaining the minister about
hydrogen technology and fuel cells
The
CEO of SINTEF, Morten Loktu, seems to be very interested in hydrogen technology
The
hydrogen society may be there in 5, 10 or 30 years. Be prepared!
While
people are leaving for the next display, to the left
Per Erling Frivik of SINTEF and CEO of Institute of
Energy Technology, Kjell Bendiksen, discusses some natural gas
related political issues.
The
next display is the multi-phase
laboratory, where Ph.D.-student Monika Johansen
explains what is going on. The plexiglass tubing, which we do not see here, makes it possible to actually
see the flow phenomena occuring in two-phase flow.
Still
in the multi-phase lab. Male predominance?
Erik
Lindeberg, SINTEF, explains the minister about underground CO2 sequestration
The
minister seems to like the down-to-earth and frank presentation by Erik Lindeberg.
