We have an electronic and searchable list of licences bought back to 1997. For the most part, single licenses are mapped to single owners and, if applicable, single users or single PCs (student frequently use licenses from a pool that their tutor has bought).
Frequently people think they have licenses which they don't. That a program is installed on the computer you happen to use presently unfortunally doesn't mean you have a license for that program. When the time comes for a reinstallation, we won't install it for you. We must be able to prove that we actually own the licenses we use.

Most of our programs have UNIX license servers, eiter run by the USIT or us. They have server-grade hardware with service contracts, they can be accessed and fixed from anywhere and if we can't fix the problem ourselves, we can get help. Our UNIX license servers have an uptime far in excess of 99%.
Some of our programs require windows license servers. We can not fix windows license servers while off site and we have limited possibility to get help with problems. If your program requires a license server you should go for a UNIX server if possible. If not we will set it up on windows, it is however important to be aware that you cannot expect the same reliability from the license server.
