DRAMA BOREALE

Nordisk Drama- og teaterpedagogisk nettverkssamling 2006 Trondheim

The 5th Nordic network assembly in drama and theatre education (Drama Boreale) will take place in Trondheim at NTNU in 2006. During 5 days (July 31- August 4), we will document and question different Nordic culture and research that concerns this area.

Drama Boreale gathers nordisc researchers, artists and teachers who work within a broad, applied theatre field, where the fascination, the performance, the creative collectivity, self presentation, identity, learning and education/edification all are interconnected.

The network has a parallel in the international Association for Drama, Theatre and Education, which in global measures retains the application of theatre in different social, political, commercial and educative contexts.

In relation to a global interest in different applications of drama and theatre, Drama Boreale presents humanism and humanists in practice. This Nordic network supports a cultural future scenario, where dramatic-aesthetic activities are central to human life in all contexts where man acts and is educated.

Play, acting and theatre is applied in schools, public health service, business, new media, leisure, museum work, conflict management and much more. Among the issues of the key note addresses at the assembly, we may mention the dramatist and young people (Ibsen, Edward Bond) , young children/toddlers and child theatre, and visions for the field of drama and theatre education.

In this week the following arenas might be presented: drama- and theatre education, child and youth theatre, creative entrepreneurship, computer games, the hospital clown, Jon Fosse for kids, the chaos pilot, LARP etc. A common denominator for most practice is a strong focus on the cultural producer rather than the cultural consumer.

In the week program, you will find an academic program, including a research school, furthermore an artistic program ands a social program.

On behalf of the Nordic interest organisations for drama education, we wish you all heartly welcome to the Nordic meeting.

The event is made possible by a collaboration between NTNU, DMMH, HiNT and Theatre Avant Garden, in addition to a committee of Nordic advisers.
