Teaching Academic Writing - Internationalisation in Higher Education
Seminar 12th - 13th June, 2008, at Oslo University College (HiO), Pilestredet 46
Venue: Ground floor, PA 128 Apollo auditorium. Registration, coffee, lunch at 2nd floor, Course- and Conference Centre.
The summer NFEAP meeting this year will take place on June12th and 13th. The main topic is 'Teaching Academic Writing'. We will have an additional topic which is 'Teaching Internationalisation to Academic Staff', with talks from three speakers:
- Els van der Werf, Hanze University Groningen, NL , on 'The harmonization of European higher education: implications for English as a language of instruction'
- Paul Roberts, University of Hertfordshire, UK, will speak on a new course he runs under the UH Continuing Professional Academic Development programme entitled 'Internationalisation in Higher Education'
- Marion Troia, Hanze University Groningen, NL , who is doing her doctorate on a programme called TIP: Teacher Internationalisation Programme at Hanzehogeschool Groningen, NL
The speakers who will give papers on teaching academic writing are:
- Sian Etherington, University of Salford, UK
- Judith Mc Guiness Torvik, Høgskolen i Telemark, HiT/Telemark University College
- Lynell Chvala, HiO/Oslo University College
- Nancy Lea Eik-Nes, NTNU/The Norwegian University of Science and Technology
The combination of national and international expertise on these topics should make for a stimulating seminar and we hope many in the NFEAP target group will attend.
