Faculty Information
The Faculty of Nursing at Oslo University College is a fully accredited nursing school. We are governed by a national curriculum plan (currently under revision) and the The Act Relating to Universities and University Colleges . We also have an ongoing dialogue with the Norwegian Nurses Association to ensure that our education is anchored in contemporary society as well as being on the cutting edge of nursing education.
Structure and organisation
The Faculty is governed by a Faculty Board (Avdelingsstyre). The Faculty Board's chairman is the Dean, and is elected from the academic staff for a period of 3 years with the possibility for one re-election. She / he chairs the Faculty Board and on its behalf supervises the activities of the Faculty. The present Dean of the Faculty of Nursing is Vigdis Granum.
The Faculty Director is a tenured position. He/She heads the administration of the faculty.
The leaders of the study programmes are the Heads of Studies. They are supervised directly by the Dean of the Faculty. There are four heads of studies, one for each year in the undergraduate programme programmes and one for the different advanced programmes and continuing education programmes.
International unit:The unit is responsible for student and teacher exchanges through ERASMUS, NORDPLUD and Bi-lateral agreements. They facilitate international research applications as well as administrate intensive programmes in conjunction with foreign partner institutions.
Specialist facilities
Library: All faculty members and students have access to library services including access to electronic databases and reference help from certified librarians. The libraries are open Monday - Friday during the day.
The students have access to nursing art labs.
The students have their clinical studies in several hospitals and the community health care service in Oslo and its surroundings. Students are required to wear suitable clothing during clinical studies. More information about this is available from the clinical studies advisors.
