The Aesthetic of Daily Life

  • What is The Aesthetics of Daily Life?
  • What is the Aesthetic dimension in Nordic life?

The course is designed for education students as well as teachers in various schools, institutions and age groups. Its main purpose is to learn how to know, reflect upon and use the aesthetic dimension in one's surrounding areas. The course will give you an opportunity to explore this through your own experiences with nature, culture, society, art and theory. Our working methods are:

  • excursions (forest, museums, city, fjords )
  • drama
  • arts & craft
  • music
  • story telling
  • theory and experience based discussions
  • etc.

Students must be prepared to participate in various activities, and must bring warm clothes, hiking/winter boots and a sleeping bag. They must be prepared to work practically with miscellaneous materials under various conditions.
The student will submit papers during the course which will:

  1. Complement practical work/products made by the student individually or in a group
  2. Initiate and/or follow up discussions among students/teachers
    3. Be included in an assessment

In the first unit (3 mounths) the students will be introduced to the course themes in many different ways, ending in a final assessment. It is possible to add 4 more weeks, extending the course, were the student will work in a depth study.
