Helmut Johannes Vollmer
He has published widely on Foreign Language Testing, Second Language Acquisition Research, Pragmalinguistics and Bilingual Education, more recently on Language Across the Curriculum and specifically on Discourse Competence in Subject-Specific Contexts (Geography).
From 2000-2006 he was the Director of a Post-Graduate Program in Bilingual Teacher Education and Head of a Research Unit on Bilingua-lism and Multilingualism in Osnabrück, directing a research project on subject-specific language learning and language use, funded by the Deutsche Forschungs-gemeinschaft (DFG). He is one of the Vice-Presidents of the Association for Fachdidaktik in Germany and cooperates with the Council of Europe/Language Policy Division on their language projects.
