Norway is by far the cheapest country for visitors (joke), but we will arrange for meals and social activities for reasonable prices, even for students. You should calculate NOK 200 for meals and refreshments. There are ATMs on almost every street corner, so there is no need to bring travel quecks or cash if you have a credit card. The banks and post offices will handle any moneyorder, but the charge is high. The post offices do NOT accept Dutch giro-checques, but you can get money from ATMs with the Cyrus-logo almost everywhere with your Giro-pas. Creditcards are accepted in most places.

From the UK:
A nice way of getting to Bergen from the UK is by boat from Newcastle. Color Viking is a large, cruise-style ship, very comfortable. It departs Newcastle on Wednesday September 9 in the afternoon, and arrives in Bergen on the following evening. The prices are reasonable, NOK 295 (GBP 24) for students one way without cabin. For a 4-5 bed cabin the price is NOK 370 (GBP 30) for students one way.You may book you tickets at:
Color Line, International Ferry Terminal,
Royal Quays, North Shields, Tyne & Wear, NE 29 6EE.

http://www.colorline.no/If you go by air, the easiest is to get a direct flight to Bergen. The number of direct flights, however, may be limited, and you should not be suprised if you have to go via Oslo or Stavanger. It will give you an additional flight of 30-50 minutes, but you may find that the price is less.
From the continent:
From the continent one possibility is to go by the boat from Hanstholm on the north tip of Jutland to Bergen. The ship Bergen is leaving Hanstholm on Thursday 9. Sept at 18.30 arriving Bergen the following day at 11.00. The boat departs Bergen on Monday 21. Sept. at 16.30 arriving Hansholm the following day at 09.00. The price for students is approx . NOK 400 both ways. Driving to Hansholm is probably by far the cheapest way of getting to Bergen, and maybe the most enjoyable if the wether is nice.Prices and reservation, Fjord Line Bergen:
http://www.hanstholmhavn.dk/fjordline/indexuk.htmIf want to go by air, the best connections go through either Copenhagen or Oslo to Bergen. You may also want to check out the new direct flight from Amsterdam to Bergen provided by Braathens Safe in cooperation with KLM.
From the Netherlands there are three (10.20, 14.00 and 20.00 hours) direct flights a day from Amsterdam to Bergen by KLM-City-Hopper of about 1 hour and 40 minutes, which will cost around Dfl. 400.= if you book early. Usually SAS-flights via Copenhagen or Oslo are a bit cheaper, but will take a couple of hours.
From the airport:
When you arrive at the airport (Flesland) in Bergen, there will be an airport bus waiting outside the main entrance. It departs every 15-20 minutes from 06.00 in the morning untill late at night. The ticket costs NOK 45 (£4 or Dfl. 12.15) and the ride takes approx. 30. min. A taxi will cost around NOK 150-200 (£15-20 or Dfl 40-54), or approximately the same as the bus if you travel 4 in a group. The guesthouse is at walking distance from most parts of town. Once you have entered the town and see a round pond to the left of you from the buss, then get off. The guesthouse is 3-4 min. walk from the pond to the right. Check the map. If you arrive at the guesthouse after 11 in the evening, please let us know as you need a key to get in.
