Vision

Make scientists at the University of Tromsø the most efficient users of high performance computing (HPC) in Norway. Create the best support environment for any HPC user in Norway, and present them to the most efficient solutions to support their highest demands in HPC.

Goal

The HPC program at the University of Tromsø is focused on understanding the principles of HPC and develop effective usage of HPC resources, both locally and nationally. This will be done by building a powerful parallel programming support system, and give the users access to highly available, easy accessible, state of the art equipment in a powerful programming and processing environment.

News

  • March 11th, 2003: A course in scripting is given April 22-24 at UiT.
  • March 3rd, 2003: NOTUR Metacenter offers a second opportunity to apply for advanced user support for optimization of application programs. See www.notur.org/metacenter/advanced_usersupport2.html (in Norwegian) for details. Please note that this is a service you have to apply for. Deadline for application is March 15, 2003.
  • March 3rd, 2003: The current computer grants period expires March 31. Apply for time for the next period on the metacenter grants page. We encourage users to use the web application form.
  • February 28th, 2003: First announcement for the NOTUR 2003 Gathering at the University of Oslo 14th-15th of May 2003 www.notur.org/notur2003.
  • February 28th, 2003: The official opening of the new cluster for supercomputing was arranged January 28 at the University of Tromsø. The program can be found here (in Norwegian).
  • July 1st, 2002: A one-day GLview seminar held August 28 at UiT.
  • June 27th, 2002: The table of available software at the four sites within NOTUR has been updated: Software overview.
