My main research interests are late 18th- and 19th-cent. literature
and science, travel writing, feminism and gender studies. I've directed
theses on individual novels (both American and British), and on many
various aspects of 19th-century British literature and culture, on
literature and gender, and on topics connected to the relationship
between literature and scientific discourse.
