My main position is now in the Scientific Computing Department at the Simula Research Laboratory, where I work as scientist and research director. I am on 80% leave from my position as Professor of Scientific Software at the Department of Informatics, University of Oslo (I spend the 20% part of this position on teaching and supervision).
From 2007 my main research tasks are related to the Center of Excellence Software Components for Biomedical Flows. The topics of this center is computational middleware for numerical solution of partial differential equations, robust numerical methods for laminar and turbulent flow, and mathematical modeling of air and blood flow in the human body, especially fluid-structure interactions.
I also work part-time at the Physics of Geological Processes Center of Excellence at the University of Oslo. I have been working part time in Numerical Objects (a company that commercialized Diffpack), the Department of Scientific Computing, Uppsala University, and SINTEF Applied Mathematics. Before taking up the position at the Department of Informatics in 1999, I worked as an Associate Professor and later as a full Professor of Mechanics at the Department of Mathematics, University of Oslo.
