Who can apply?

BCPL offers access to researchers or research teams of the EU and Associated States. Visits should be during year 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 and Jan-Feb 2004 in full (or half) CALENDAR months (!!!) except July and August.

We can cover the accommodation cost of two (in certain cases three) visitors at a time. Study the "Visitor timetable" posted on the Web and updated permanently. This shows all '1st requests' submitted to BCPL, thus providing orientation on competition at a given period of time. Remember (!) that no changes are possible after the program is set for the next semester by the User Selection Panel. Try to avoid dropping out after your proposal was accepted!

Proposals should include:

1: Name of the project (max five words)

2: Name, nationality/citizenship/residence and affiliation of project leader (incl. Phone # and e-mail)

3: Name, nationality/citizenship/residence and affiliation of visiting users (incl. e-mail)

4: Local Project host proposed/ choose from Sentef/CERN Theory Project staff

5: Suggested referees (one or two with title, affiliation, E-mail, Phone)

6: Brief Project description, 1 - 2 pages, including a list of a few relevant publications of the team.

7: Explanation for the need of parallel computing approach for the proposed project.

8: Planned visits: Names and dates. 3 alternative plans should be submitted. Consult the "Visitor timetable" before you submit your proposal!

There are NO FORMS. Applications of 1-2 pages should include these points.

Proposals should be in LaTeX (.tex), or in plain text (.txt) format, and should be submitted by E-mail or simultaneously by Mail and E-mail. Figures or diagrams should not be included in the application in any format. If figures deemed to be unavoidable, these should be included in the mailed application only.

Proposals are reviewed and ranked by the User Selection Panel, according to the following priorities: (i) scientific merit of the groups and their proposals, (ii) need for massive parallel computing to accomplish the project, (iii) new user groups and projects receive priority, (iv) society interest in the proposed work, (v) countries lacking similar infrastructure and (vi) short visits (max. 1 month). The Panel's ranking and selection is subject to EC approval which takes about one month from the Panel meeting.

Panel meetings selecting the projects for the next semester are held in the second half of April and October. Deadline for submitting proposals is April 15 (for the fall semester) and October 15 (for the spring semester).
