About Para//ab

After finishing my Dr Scientiarium degree (similar to a PhD) I have been working at Para//ab, co-located with the Department of Informatics, at the University of Bergen, but that really is a part of the Bergen Center for Computational Science, BCCS, which again is a part of the research company UNIFOB AS, owned 85% by the University. My professional interest lies within fields like ocean modeling (see this page for more info on what I do, or for even more examples click here ), parallell computing and really Scientific computing in general.

At Para//ab we offer a range of services in scientific computing. We operate a few reasonably powerful computers for UoB, see a summary here

Our services are mostly focused on software development/analysis on research or industrial projects. We are also responsible for advanced support for the users of the local high performance computers. As computing time costs money, making programs run as fast as possible is an important and challenging effort. Our group consists of scientists with a broad background - from computational biology to mathematics, so we also try to do some research!
