Only for students arriving around midnight(9 students from Paris and 4 students from Madrid):

Arrival at Vaernes Airport - pick up by a minibus - Yellow "Norgestaxi" which will take the students directly to the Youth Hostel) for students arriving with the midnight flight from Copenhagen or the last flight from Oslo. Go to the main airport exit, continue to the left: You will see a yellow bus waiting for Athens students.

Trondheim's airport is named Vaernes and is located about 40 km from the center of town. Unfortuately we are unable to meet you at the airport, but orientation at an airport of this size is rather easy. Buses to town leave from right outside the main terminal building. You buy tickets on the bus (55 kr. in 2002)and you will have to pay cash. The trip to Trondheim takes approximately 40 minutes. The bus stops at Leutenhavn, Britannia hotel, Royal Garden Hotel and the train station. (Note: A taxi from the airport will cost about 600 kr.) The buses run VERY often and essentially in conjunction with the arrival of each flight.

Students who are not able to come with the minibus "Norgestaxi" (see above) to the city have to arrange their own transport to the student home. It is very near to the center of the city (walking distance 15 - 20 minutes) and only 5 minutes from the NTNU mainbuilding. It is also possible to take a bus from the the center of the city - the airport shuttle bus stops at "Leutehavn" (last station), ask the bus driver for the nearest local bus stop or walk - to "Studentersamfundet". Ask for a "midtbybillet" which will be cheaper (approx. 10 NOK). Walking distance from the bus stop to the home is 5- 10 minutes. See map in the link above.

The arrangements in the student home are very basic. 2 sleeping rooms in the basement of the home. But you have access to the other facilities of the student home. It will be cheap and breakfast is included.

Please take your sleeping bags with you for the student home.

Breakfast included (bed-linen for the whole period 50 NOK, no sleeping bags, you can also take your own linnen with you, blankets are in the youth hostel).

At the youth hostel you have to share the room with 3 other persons. Cost per night is: 195 NOK and breakfast is included.

Lunch and Dinner are not part of the social programme. Cheapest way for lunch and diner is the student canteen at the campus. Dinner of the day costs 38 NOK.

50 NOK for the airport taxi plus the social activity fee of 260 NOK will be collected during the course break on Tuesday

Cash dispensers and bank offices are on compus (Central Building II).

Guided tour through the city. Meet at the Tourist Information at Torget (the south-east corner by the tall statue of the King Olav Tryggvason in the center of the city, approx. 15 - 20 min. to walk from Singsaker studenthome)

 (walk from your city center to the mainbuilding approx. 20 minutes, from the student home 5 - 10 minutes)

13.30 - 17.00:Our ESN (ERASMUS Student Network) students will take the Athens students for a trip to the "Studenterhytta" (the Students' Cabin) in Bymarka where you will have the traditional student dinner.Please take good shoes with you. We have a lot of snow in Trondheim.

Most useful: "Trondheim city centre" You are staying at number 31 and NTNU is number 22. The airport bus is leaving from 27 and some minutes later passing by 28.
