1. General

For the MSc curriculum, the Department of Telematics offers in total 14 ordinary courses and 8 themes. All ordinary courses give credit equal to 7.5 ECTS Credits, while themes give 3.75 ECTS Credits. There is a compulsory project work in the autumn term of the last year of the study and a MSc thesis work in the final term of the study. The project work is 15 ECTS Credits and the MSc thesis is 30 ECTS Credits.

In addition to the courses listed for the MSc curriculum, Department of Telematics also offers PhD courses. The PhD courses can also be followed by MSc students.

2. Specialisation Course and Project

The specialisation course and project are scheduled in the autumn term in the last year of the study. The specialiation course consists of two themes. There are procedures, methods and schemas related to the selection and suggested project topics and accomplishment as well as formal procedures and rules for exam and grading of the specialisation course and project.

The project is an individual research work. At the end of the previous term (normally in June), a list of project topics will be made available at the WEB. Each student reports his/her preferred choices with priority as a basis for the selection. After the project report is submitted in early December, the students are to give a 15 minutes presentation of the project for an audience consisting of students and teachers. The presentation is a separate requirement for passing the exam in the specialisation subject, but is not part of the grading of the project work. The grading of the project normally shall be done within 3 weeks (excluding Christmas period) after the project presentation.

3. MSc thesis

The MSc thesis is as the project an individual research work, but more comprehensive than the project. The MSc thesis work has normally 20 week duration in the spring term in the final year of the study and the credit load is equivalent to 30 ECTS Credits. For students from foreign universities with special load requirements, the credit load can be adjusted.

There are procedures, methods and schemas related to the selection of suggested topics and accomplishment as well as formal procedures and rules for grading of the MSc thesis.

At the end of the autumn term (normally in December), a list of thesis topics will be made available at the WEB. Each student reports his/her preferred choices as a basis for the selection. The work shall normally start before January 20th.
