The simulation lab at ITEM is constituted by the collection of Discrete Event Simulation (DES) software tools:
Students active at the simulation lab
SIMULA - Simula is a simulation language is a pure object oriented programming language specially designed for simulation purposes. Discrete Event Modelling on Simula (Demos) is a context class that contains many building blocks for discrete event simulators and has proven to be very convenient to use when writing your first discrete event simulator.
JavaDEMOS - JavaDemos is a Java library for discrete event simulation, which has been derived from the SIMULA class DEMOS. It is less computer efficient than the native DEMOS, and is not recommended for simulation of large, complex problems.
J-sim - (formerly known as JavaSim) is a component-based, compositional simulation environment. The simulation model defines the generic structure of a node (either an end host or a router) and the generic network components, both of which can then be used as base classes to implement protocols across various layers.
Network Simulator (ns) - Ns is a discrete event simulator targeted at networking research. Ns provides substantial support for simulation of TCP, routing, and multicast protocols over wired and wireless (local and satellite) networks.
OMNeT++ - OMNeT++ is a public-source, component-based, modular and open-architecture simulation environment with strong GUI support and an embeddable simulation kernel. Its primary application area is the simulation of communication networks and because of its generic and flexible architecture.
OpNet - OPNET is a well known commercial simulation tool with a rich set of modules for simulation of networks and applications, addressing: network and application performance management; capacity and resiliency planning; network auditing and configuration management; and modeling and simulation.
