Marine Cybernetics Laboratory (MCLab)

MCLab is an experimental laboratory for testing of ships, rigs, underwater vehicles and propulsion systems. The laboratory was appointed as an Marie Curie EU Training Site in 2002. The laboratory is a joint facility between:

The software is developed using rapid prototyping techniques and automatic code generation under Matlab/Simulink and Opal. The target PC onboard the vessel runs the QNX real-time operating system while experimental results are presented in real-time on a host PC using Labview.

Sea-keeping tests using a scale model. Models can be runned without cables thanks to a wireless ethernet connection and a micro-PC onboard.

Dimensions:
L x B x D = 40 m x 6.45 m x 1.5 m
Length of Ship Models: 1-3 m
Typical Scale Ratios: 75-150
