Using latex
-----------

latex thesis.tex # compile source to thesis.dvi
xdvi thesis # view resulting thesis.dvi
dvips thesis # convert thesis.dvi to thesis.ps (postscript)
lpr thesis.ps # postscript can be sent directly to a postscript printer (but not in Windows!)
ps2pdf thesis.ps # convert to pdf (this is safest)

Use acroread to view the document and print it

Figures
-------

Use a program like xfig to make your figures and export them into
".eps" (encapsulated postscript) format. Don't use raster formats like
".tif". ".jpg", etc. for figures. Many Windows programs produce these
formats but they do not scale properly and look very bad in the final
document.
