The development of communication technology and digital
media affects our globalized society in fundamental
ways. Our culture is changing and we want to reflect
upon it in different ways.
Artistic, technical and theoretical knowledge are
important elements in the education along with critical
analysis and the freedom to experiment. The central
issue is to develop a consciousness of artistic and
conceptual use of electronic and digital media. This
also means to push beyond the borders of visual art
into other fields such as music, theatre, film and
mass media.
As a student you may decide to focus on video, multimedia,
net art, interactivity, sound art or other forms of
experimental use of digital tools. Or you may choose
to supplement your work in other art forms by taking
part in some of the workshops we offer. We have long
and positive experiences working across different
techniques and traditions. As a part of NTNU we also
have the opportunity to participate in projects with
students and teachers from other disciplines such
as architects, scientists, musicians and film and
media theorists.
The education is structured around different seminars;
individual tutoring, workshops and project based work
like exhibitions or productions.
