Arctic Natural Climate and Environmental Changes and Human Adaptation:
SciencePub
From Science to Public Awareness
The SciencePub project aims to:
  • Advance our fundamental knowledge on natural climate and environmental change in the Arctic during the last ice-age (130 000 years) by improving system understanding and quantifying certain climate components
  • Advance our understanding of human adaptation strategies to past rapid and large-scale changes in the physical environment following the decay of the last ice-sheet starting
    15 000 years ago
  • Generate public outreach strategies that will leave a lasting legacy of increased public awareness of the natural environmental systems of Arctic

Igor was just over 50 years old, when his courageous fight against the illness came to an end. His death is a very large loss to his family, his wife, mother and daughter, and also to his many friends and colleagues in Russia and abroad. (read more...)

This joint scientific and public outreach project is based on field studies carried out in northernmost Norway, Russia, Svalbard and adjoining seas.
SciencePub is a collaboration between the Geological Survey of Norway (NGU), the universities of Tromsø (UiT) and Bergen (UiB), the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (UMB), the Norwegian Polar Institute (NPI), the Science Centers in Tromsø, Trondheim and Bergen (SC), the Oslo University College, Faculty of Journalism (UOC) and Geological Institute, Russian Academy of Sciences in Petrozavodsk, Moscow and St. Petersburg, University of Copenhagen (KU).
