BeskrivelseThe main purpose of this study is to describe and question a humanistic approach to coaching at the elite level, within a Norwegian National Female Team.
This is at in-depth longitudinal case study within a Norwegian National Female Team. Operating as a researcher during two seasons I followed the team including preparation for, accomplishing two International Championships, and the evaluations process after each Championship. The team suffered losses and had great triumphs during these periods.
The discussion is based on field observations and in-depth interviews made with both coaches and players. The challenges of a humanistic approach to coaching in an elite level context are emphasized.
The study highlights the constraints and possibilities in coaching at this level, and points out how some dimensions in the coaching process seams more significant than others; for establishing a well-functioning relationship, and for effective coaching and good results.
