Welcome to Bjørn K. Alsberg's group
Research
The primary focus of CBG is to develop new data analytical methods within the fields of chemometrics and bioinformatics. Within chemometrics we are in particular interested in
- Efficient representations of spectra
- Hyperspectral image analysis
- Quantitative structure-activity relationships
- Drug design
Within bioinformatics we focus on
- Simulation of microarrays
- Methods for gene selection
- Gene ontology as background information
- Finding comparable protein spots in gels
- Whole cell fingerprinting
Please see the projects page for more information.
The Bioinformatics Platform
CBG is part of the FUGE Bioinformatics Platform branch in Trondheim. CBG is sharing this platform branch with Professor Hans Krokan's research group at the Faculty of Medicine, NTNU. The main site for the Bioinformatics Platform is located in Bergen.
The CBG activites in addition to research within the platform can be divided into two main parts:
- Free data analysis through our The NTNU Data Analysis Centre (NDC). Here we provide help to norwegian FUGE scientists to analyse their data free of charge
- Development of SciCraft open source software for data analysis
